About

Small on purpose.

A Canadian owned and woman owned recruitment and workforce firm, based in Calgary and working across Canada.

The firm

What we are.

Averra Workforce places administrative, office support and human resources people, advises organizations on how their hiring is run, and works as a delivery partner on bids led by other firms.

Being small is the point. A client gets a named person who knows the file, and a candidate gets someone who has actually read their experience. That does not scale to volume, and we are not trying to make it.

How you are looked after

A small, vetted team.

You deal with the people doing the work. Whoever is on your file has read it, and anyone who joins it is briefed properly before they speak to you. Small enough that nothing gets lost between people, deliberately.

No account layer between you and the people doing the work.

How we work

Five things you can hold us to.

  1. We respond inside the window.
Short turnaround requirements are the norm in this work. We are structured to meet them rather than ask for an extension.
  2. We propose people we can actually deliver.
We do not put anyone forward that we have not spoken to and verified.
  3. We price to the median band, not the floor.
A rate that cannot sustain a placement does not survive the assignment.
  4. You are never relaying through an account layer.
You speak to the people doing the work, and anyone who picks up your file has been briefed on it properly.
  5. We respect the lead firm's client relationship.
Clear scope, their timetable, and we never go round them to their client.

Black Professionals Canada, mentorship strategy and mentor training

Black Professionals Canada received funding under the federal Supporting Black Canadian Communities Initiative and engaged SkillUp Trades, which sits under the same company, to build and deliver the mentorship side of it. We designed the culturally grounded mentorship strategy and trained the mentors to carry it. The mentors work with Black offenders and ex offenders on career objectives, entrepreneurship, Black identity, and justice awareness and prevention.

We needed a culturally grounded strategy for working with Black offenders and ex offenders, and mentors actually equipped to sit with someone and talk about career, entrepreneurship, Black identity and justice. That is what they designed and delivered, and our mentors came out of it ready for the room.
